Update

I’ve been busy with volunteer work & school work so it’s been a while since I’ve last posted and I have a few topics I’ll try to have up by tonight. The latest tommorow morning.

Topics you’ll see….

Globalization in China, (maybe) Globalization in other countries, and a post of some excerpts from a paper I’ve read. Then I may have a post of a book I’ve been reading and how it changed that areas (the country) in general. Or how you believe it to have changed the area/country even.

So forgive me for being late with these. Thank you. -Brianna

Story from India- Globalization

•September 25, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I want to share a story that is an example of this globalization in India that I’ve heard and it will change the poor people’s society. It can even destroy it.

The poor women in an area make incense for work and this is how they make money to keep her family alive. But then a big British Tobacco company trades to India, to globalize their company, there incense for much less than the poor women charge so thus the poor women and their area is wiped out.

It’s not very detailed but it doesn’t need to be for the point in this is clear. It is a negative impact because of globalization. Though this doesn’t mean there is not positive impacts I’d still like to ask…. Is it possible for the big companies, like that of the company in the story, to resist wiping out these small areas and poor people?  Why or why not?

Globalization in India

Globalization is a big occurrence lately. In case you don’t already know globalization is a process by which regional things become global; the increasing interconnectivity of the world and its people. It can happen through trade, the spread of technology, foreign investment, and migration. Now globalization is high in quite a few places but in this post I’ll be focusing on India. There will most likely be a follow-up of this post once there is some comments and I get a feel for your opinions and if I find more information. Then, we’ll go to the other locations.

I found a few very nice videos about globalization in India that I’d like to share and I ask you watch these before you comment and say your opinion. I don’t expect your opinion to change though, just to give you further knowledge. If you realize you’ve already seen it after viewing the page, that is fine. After watching, post what you found to be the most interesting or eye-catching. There’s a few different points to choose from.

Now globalization is said to be both good and bad on India. Through other accurate videos and sites, I’ve found a few things mentioned for both of the following. Good: Being that alike of America has always been a dream to a few Indians which is now coming true, many more Indians are now employed and have money to spend, children gain even more ambition and intelligence then the already high amount majority of Indian children have thanks to the competition for jobs, and it (being globalization) is unifying us. Speaking of unification this is from most Indians learning English now and this said unification can possibly help lessen racism, prejudice, and discrimination. Which is indeed a wonderful thing. Bad Impacts: Unification can backfire and push us farther apart, India’s traditions and overall society will be altered majorly (I believe this is in the video links above)  and previous generations are deeply unsettled,  and India will lose a lot of its uniqueness.

The above is not my opinion. I’ll write my opinion in the next line from here and of course more points that are not just one persons hopefully thanks to the comments I hope to see will be added in the follow-up post. My own opinion: I believe that globalization should continue but also needs to be limited. India has a beautiful culture and too much globalization will take away from this.

Questions I have heard and a few I thought up that I’d like to see your answers. Of course you do not have to answer them. (: 1)  Is it fair that India is taking jobs away from other countries (America for example)? 2) In your opinion is globalization helping India’s high population? Explain? 3) What do you see India’s cultures and traditions to be like in the future? 4) Anything you think needs to be added in the points above? Or anything I may have forgotten. And then whatever else you wish to say.

PLEASE… do not post anything inappropriate or degrading. For example, Americans are annoying etc or India is being selfish etc nor things about other countries. No. You will be rude saying either and I love to read comments but will not waste time approving ones as such.  I appreciate it and thanks for reading this post.

First post to start !

My name’s Brianna. I’ve created Tainted Picture for myself and others to share their views on things, events, and overall change. The name seemed to fit what I plan to have here because I think everyone has their own picture and each is tainted in its own way. Not that there’s something wrong and bad in their picture or view, etc just that its different. Tainted shades/different shades.

My world studies class inspired me to make a blog in the first place. I will already be posting a few things/events that are going on now even though it’s the first day of the blog. What better way to start. I’d love your view on whatever I post, I understand that in asking for opinions they wont always be the same as my own and don’t mind this. I don’t expect to have feedback so soon though it is appreciated and I will comment back to you or mention your points in a follow-up post perhaps. Most of the blog I want to focus on change. People can be against change, afraid of it, or for it.

Thank you, Brianna.

Note: I have a few pages up that can tell you a little more about the blog in general if your curious and a suggestion page to get a few things you may think to be definite changes up. Look at ‘em and comment if you’d like.
